In the midst of your busy schedule,
perhaps you would consider a surprising, an extraordinary change of plans.

How would you like to become a Catholic monk - for a few days?

Saint Benedict Abbey introduces

MONK FOR A WEEKEND

a program which allows Catholic men
(ages 18-32)
to come to our monastery
to share and observe our monastic life
for a weekend.

Sounds interesting. But is it for me?

It certainly is. It is for any young man who loves God and desires to love Him more.

Sure I want to love God more, but becoming a monk isn't exactly how I’ve planned to do it.

Doesn't have to be. St. Paul had other plans, until God knocked him off his horse. Matthew the moneyman had other plans, until Jesus said to him, "Follow Me." God had his own plans for them. They took up the challenge - and we can thank God they did. God also has a plan for you. And it just may be here with us. What better way to find out than to come and see?

So - what would I be doing?

What Benedictine monks have been doing for 1500 years: chanting God's praises, working by the sweat of their brows, and serving Christ in their brothers.

And when would I be doing it?

You have a choice of weekends:
July 22-24
August 12-14
September 9-11
September 23-25
Feel free to sign up for more than one weekend or make arrangements to come at another time.

Hmmm. It’s worth thinking about.

It’s worth more than that. It’s worth doing something about.

Let’s say I’m interested.  What do I do now?
